The screenplay for the movie was written by Horowitz himself, so I assumed that he would remain true to the original story. The main plot remained intact- the young twice orphaned male protagonist takes on the role his uncle trained him for- that of a spy for MI6, but the character himself did not. The movie version of Alex Rider's character is a cocky, self-assured boy- hardly the humble, intelligent, young man of the novels. The film also contains a lot of violence- from gun fights to hand to hand karate combat. The movie pales in comparison to the novel as it leaves out the bulk of the mystery surrounding the villain's malicious plan.
